About the Column

Second Half is the title of a syndicated column by Mary Hanna, a humorist living in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The column is aimed directly at her own generation–but has gotten a big response from all ages–and plays up the absurdities of everyday life. Mary’s lighthearted approach to the particular joys of being an aging Baby Boomer has her readers responding with comments like, “You’re the best thing to read since we lost Erma Bombeck.” More reader comment
